Due to another bout of ill health which is now becoming really depressing I have had my painting plans well set back. I was able however to re base the siphis contingent of John's wonderful Ottoman army. Of course I have now decided to expand their size and add a couple of extra units.
Bearing in mind that John painted these in circa 1986 it shows several things, one is the standard of Peter Gilder's work, and the second is the standard of John's painting. It was something that inspired me to keep painting in an effort to catch up to him.
One of the many bombard/artillery units in the army.
This gun was a very generous gift from Doug Crowther and consisted of two of the crew and the gun which had been in Gilders collection.
Very impressive! Cheers! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words,I am looking forward to having this army back on the wargames table.
DeleteEverything is suitably gorgeous. Hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your encouragement, its time I sorted myself out I think.
DeleteThanks Robbie.
Gorgeous! Love the gun and bombard!
ReplyDeleteEvening Phil,
DeleteWhen John originally painted this army he decked it out with quite a few interesting artillery pieces.
Great paint jobs, mate! Those Turks are looking the part. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling too good. You got to get back on track for York show!!! Hope to see you and John there!
ReplyDeleteEvening Dennis,
